Santa Fe Trestle Trail
Gem #16: Santa Fe Trestle Trail
Free, Nature, Sports Dallas (Oak Cliff)

This easy hike and bike trail is the gateway to the Great Trinity Forest–the country’s largest urban bottomland hardwood forest. The key feature of this smooth concrete trail is the restored railway bridge that spans over the Trinity River. The trail boasts a great view of the Dallas skyline and is a prime spot for watching migratory birds. Get a healthy dose of nature, right in the heart of the city, by starting your ride from the trailhead near the DART station at 8th Street and Corinth.

Ha – I didn’t realize this trail had a name but I love it. Our gang rode right past this bridge and all the way down to Fair Park. Worn out we grabbed a beer at the Pizza Lounge and then hopped the train back up north. Glad to see that Dallas is making is easier to get around for those of us that like to be outdoors and on the move!
