If you’re looking for a big delicious helping of nostalgia, Big State Fountain Grill is the place for you. The old drugstore and soda fountain was renovated in 2014 and restored to glory by its new owners, lifelong Irving residents. Though it’s famous for great burgers and salads and hearty breakfasts, Linda W. (who submitted this Gem) says “Everything from the chrome and red leather chairs, to the old fashioned jukebox and statues of Elvis and James Dean is reminiscent of the 1950s era. When sharing a meal with my family there, I feel like I’m in an episode of Happy Days.” Be sure to visit on Saturday evenings, when the parking lot is filled with classic cars.
